Based upon the published requirements of the Ohio Board, our distance learning courses meet all requirements for out-of-state internet-based POST-APPROVAL for counselors, marriage and family therapists, and social workers.

However, to get credit, you need to submit a short, simple Post-Approval Form to your board, for your particular license:

Specifics: The OhioState Board Rules related to Post-Approval of Out-Of-State Internet Programs say:

"Post program approval forms may be used for renewals, for programs taken outside the State of Ohio . . .  This form is to be submitted within ninety (90) days of attending a program. You must complete the required post approval form and submit documentation showing completion of the program and information on the program . . . It will take approximately 30 days to receive a response on a post program approval."    

NOTE: The same regulation also says:  "This form may also be used to request approval for presentation and distance learning options."  (That's what we are - a 'distance learning program'.)

[NOTE: At some point in the future, we may apply to the Ohio Counselor Social Worker Marriage and Family Therapist Board for PRE-APPROVAL to provide continuing education. Until we obtain this status, you may submit Post-Approval forms.]

Counselors. MFTs, and Social Workers, for Nevada: We are in the process of obtaining clarification about Counselors. MFTs, and Social Workers, for Nevada. There are references on the internet to indicate that individuals may submit CE Report forms and report forms, and request that the course be counted.  In such instances elsewhere, the submitter typically attaches a printout or copy and paste of the course's description and goals from the catalog.  Update will be added as soon as possible.

Utah Dept of Occupational Professional Licensing is an affiliate of NBCC. We are NBCC CE Provider #6338.

• NBCC-approved courses are accepted by the Professional Counselor licensing board with discretion of the licensee as to applicability of the course to the license and the practice.

• NBCC-approved courses are accepted by the Marriage and Family Therapy licensing board, with discretion of the licensee as to applicability of the course to the license and practice.

For Utah Social Workers, based upon the published criteria for acceptable CE, as seen in the Utah Social Worker Licensing Act Rules, our courses and certifications [by national and state social work and other Boards] meet the requirements for CE Credit. The rules state:

3) Continuing education under this section shall:

(a) be relevant to the licensee's professional practice;

(b) be prepared and presented by individuals who are qualified by education,

training, and experience to provide social work continuing education; and

(c) have a method of verification of attendance.

.... and which are approved by, conducted by or under sponsorship of:

(iv) professional associations, societies and organizations representing a

licensed profession whose program objectives relate to the practice of social work.

The Colorado Mental Health Licensing Section has only recently begun to require continuing education to renew mental health licenses, and is still in the process of refining its process for submission of CE Credits, according to current published information. Tennessee Board of Social Workers does not pre-approve CE Courses. Social Workers may take any course for CE Credit so long as content lies within the Social Worker's scope of practice.

Tennessee State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors Marital and Family Therapists and Licensed Pastoral Therapists is an affiliate of NBCC, and accepts CEUs offered by NBCC CE Providers (we are NBCC #6338).

Says the Board in the online publication regarding Continuing Education:

"Acceptable continuing education shall consist of master or doctoral level course work from a nationally or regionally accredited institution of higher education; attendance at educational events sponsored by national, state, regional, or local professional associations in the field; or events related to the practice of the profession for which a nationally or regionally accredited institution of higher education grants CEUs."

and

"The board does not pre-approve CE programs. It is the individual's responsibility using his professional judgment, to determine whether or not programs are applicable and appropriate to his professional development and meet the standards outlined within the board's rules and regulations."

• The Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling and the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy accept our NBCC approval #6338 for LPCs and LMFTs.

• Our courses are pre-approved by the ALABAMA STATE BOARD OF SOCIAL WORK EXAMINERS (Provider #0334) for all levels of Social Workers. We are now current, expiring August 31, 2012.

Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists accepts our NBCC Provider #6338 for the following:

NOTICE: Effective August 4, 2011, the Florida Board of Psychology issued a blanket 'clarification' to CE Broker that it was to remove all course listings which CE BROKER has advertised as approved by the Board of Psychology. This affected thousands of Florida-certified CE Providers.

However, this does_not_mean that Florida Psychologists cannot receive credit for CE credit hours taken on this or any other website. This is what they say: 'Please note that psychology licensees may take continuing education courses approved by other MQA boards [which includes the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling] where the provider has not been approved by the Board of Psychology. However, any psychology licensee selected for audit will have the burden to prove how the course(s) enhanced his or her psychological skills and/or psychological knowledge as per the Board's rule.'

Below is the Board's statement for LPC CE, from Series 3 License Renewal and Continuing Professional Education (Section 5.9) which pre-approves NBCC-approved courses, including the limitation that a maximum of twenty (20) hours of online home study may be submitted within each renewal period.

"5.9. The Board shall grant a maximum of twenty (20) contact hours within each renewal period for home study programs. Only home study programs pre-approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the American Counseling Association (ACA) are granted home study program approval."

The State of Maryland MD Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is an affiliate of NBCC and accepts our NBCC CE # 6338 for the following licences:

Social Workers -

CEU By Net is automatically approved to provide Category 1 CE for Maryland Social Workers, per state statute. 

From the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners online publication: "The following sponsors are automatically authorized to provide Catagory 1 CE activity:

1.  Recognized state, regional, national, or international social work associations

2.  National, regional, or state accredited academic institutions offering academic  courses or programs recognized as acceptable social work curriculum subject areas

CEU By Net is in fact licensed/certified to provide CE courses for Maryland Social Workers per Criteria 1 and 3 above. We are a certified CE provider for the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners # 4670, and for three other ASWB State Boards of Social Work (California, Florida, and Alabama). We are also nationally certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) # 6338 (meeting criteria #3 above).

The Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors accepts our NBCC CE Provider #6338 for all licensure designations, for up to 20 hours online per licensing period.

The State of New York does not currently publish any requirements for Continuing Education, for it's licensed Social Workers, Counselors, and Therapists.

• Rostered Psychotherapist

Vermont's Board of Allied Mental Health Practitioners is an affiliate of NBCC and will accept programs offered by NBCC-Approved CE Providers (we are NBCC CE Provider #6338), provided that ". . . . a continuing education program's objectives must relate directly to counseling theory or the application of counseling theory or practice."

Please review the course description in the Course Catalog to determine applicability. However, all of our courses should be appropriate, and have been approved by NBCC and numerous State Licensing Boards.

Note re CE for Rostered Psychotherapists: "5.7 Continuing Education for Rostered Psychotherapists Vermont law does not mandate continuing education for psychotherapists. Psychotherapists are encouraged to expand their professional education and skills by participating in continuing education, both formal and informal. Practitioners are reminded that providing services which one is not qualified to provide, or which are beyond the scope of his or her education, training, capabilities, experience, or scope of practice can be a failure to practice competently and unprofessional conduct."

CEU By Net's courses may assist Rostered Psychotherapists in demonstrating adequate training.

The New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice specifies that the courses of NBCC-approved/sponsored providers are acceptable for CE Credit. You - the licensee - do NOT have to be a member of NBCC to take our CE courses for New Hampshire licensure renewal.

20 of the 40 required CE hours may be earned through home study courses. We are NBCC CE provider #6338, and our courses are considered to be "home study" under these requirements.

6 of the 40 credits must be earned in Ethics - and we offer 7 credit hours in Ethics on our site (a 3 hour course and a 4 hour course - fast paced slide shows).

The Maine Board of Counseling Professionals is an affiliate of NBCC. All of our courses (NBCC approval #6338) meet the published Continuing Education requirements for the following Maine licences:

• Licensed Professional Counselors,
• Licensed Professional Counselor-Conditional (LPC-C)
• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors,
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists,
• Licensed Pastoral Counselors

SOCIAL WORKERS - The Maine DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL AND FINANCIAL SERVICES' BOARD OF SOCIAL WORKER LICENSURE defines continuing education as "continuing professional education directly related to the practice of social work". OUR COURSES MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS. Board allows licensee to submit CE credits for courses which have not been pre-approved based upon compliance with this definition. 10 hours of distance learning are allowed per renewal period.

• Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
• LMFT
• Social Workers

For LMHCs, the Massachusets Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professionals states that CE Sponsors 'may include, but are not limited to, colleges and universities, professional institutes, other workshop providers, and other professional training organizations.' We also meet all other criteria published by the Board for documentation of CE activity and content.

• Therefore, we appear to meet the requirements of acceptable sources of CE. We are an approved NBCC CE Provider, and also are approved by 4 State Boards for counselor CE education (TX, FL, CA, and Alabama). You may wish to contact your board and ask if NBCC CE Providers are acceptable.

For LMFTs, the Board states that it accepts CE courses and credits which are approved by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). The AAMFT has historically stated that it accepts CE courses approved by its member states including the State of Texas - and CEU By Net is an approved CE Provider for LMFTs in Texas (LMFT CE Provider #192). We are also approved by AAMFT Member State Boards in California and Florida. You may wish to check with your Board regarding acceptablity of these credentials.

For SOCIAL WORKERS:

The State Board in Massachusetts automatically approves our courses for CE Credit for Social Workers, per published rules:

(2) Approval by Recognized Entity – A continuing education course or program, OTHER THAN an individual continuing education activity approved for credit pursuant to 258 CMR 31.04(4) below, MAY ABE USED to satisfy the continuing education requirements set forth in 258 CMR 31.03(1) ONLY IF it has been reviewed and approved by a RECOGNIZED ENTITY, as defined in 258 CMR 31.02 above. A CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE OR PROGRAM SHALL BE DEEMED TO HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY A RECOGNIZED ENTITY IF:

b. The course or program has been reviewed and approved by ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program;

c. The course or program has been APPROVED FOR continuing education credit by a GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY IN ANY OTHER STATE, province, territory or political subdivision of the United States or Canada WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS.

NOTE: We are approved by FOUR (4) State Boards for examination and licensure of Social Workers (TX, CA, FL, AL). As a side-note: All of these State Boards are ASWB Board Members.

Board of Mental Health Counselors/Marriage & Family Therapists is an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and accepts courses approved by NBCC

A MINIMUM of twenty (20) of the forty (40) credits of continuing education shall be completed within Category 1, Formal Programs, which includes web-based offerings.

The Dept of Public Health - State of Connecticut Licensing Center has established the following CE criteria for each license category:

LPC CE - Courses which are approved by NBCC are acceptable. We are NBCC CE Provider #6338, and all of our courses are approved by NBC. 15 hours annually.

MFT CE - Courses which are approved by NBCC are acceptable. We are NBCC CE Provider #6338, and all of our courses are approved by NBC. 15 hours annually.

LCSW CE - Our courses are approved by multiple State Social Work Licensing Boards, ALL OF WHICH ARE MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORK BOARDS. Therefore our courses should all be accepted by the State of Connecticut for Social Workers.

The Board states that: "The Connecticut Department of Public Health does not review and approve CE courses.  It is incumbent on the provider and the practitioner to ensure that the continuing education activities meet the following requirements: . . . . The providers of continuing education are . . . . accredited by the . . . . Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) or other nationally recognized organization that demonstrates with similar standards."

• NOTE: The SW Board states that "Home study programs may on constitute a maximum of 6 hours of the annual 15 hour CE requirement."

The New Jersey State Board of Marriage & Family Therapy Examiners and the Professional Counselor Examiners Committee are affiliates of the NBCC, and accept courses provided by NBCC-approved CE Providers. We are NBCC CE Provider #6338.

Acceptance of NBCC-sponsored courses is found in the following State Law:

"13:34-8.3 Approval of continuing education programs and courses (a) .... 1. Courses and programs approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) . . ."

All of our courses comply with the content requirements for MFTs, Rehabilitation Counselors, and Professional (and Associate) Counselors. You do not need to personally be a member of NBCC to take our courses. Your state is the affiliate.

** FOR SOCIAL WORKERS:

+++ Therefore, based upon published New Jersey statute for Social Worker Continuing Education vis-a-vis ASWB approval, CEU By Net's courses should be acceptable for credit in New Jersey.  You may wish to confirm this with your State Board, however.

CE accepted by the Delaware State Board of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Professionals:

• Our NBCC CE Provider #6338 is accepted for Licensed Professional Counselors - Mental Health (LPCMH). License renewal occurs on September 30 of even years.

• Our State of Texas Professional Licensing and Certification for Chemical Dependency professionals is accepted for Delaware Chemical Dependency Professionals (LCDP).

SOCIAL WORKERS: Our courses meet the requirements of section 7.2.5.1 of the Delaware Board of Clinical Social Work Examiners. License renewal occurs January 31 of odd years.

The Virginia Board of Social Work accepts our Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners CE Certification for LCSW, LSW, Registered Social Worker - all social worker levels

The Virginia Board of Counseling accepts our NBCC CE Provider #6338 and our Texas State Board Certifications for CE, for the following:

• Marriage and Family Therapist
• Licensed Professional Counselors
• Certified Substance Abuse Counselors
• Certified Substance Abuse Counseling Assistants
• Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner
• Certified Rehabilitation Provider

• Licensed Professional Counselors:

The North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors is an affiliate of NBCC, and accepts our NBCC CE Provider #6338 for all of our courses. NOTE: You do not have to be a member of NBCC, yourself, to take our courses.

• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists:

The North Carolina Marriage and Family Therapy Licensure Board. does not pre-approve CE courses:

"..... The State Board shall not pre approve continuing education programs...... Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists shall submit each year with the license renewal forms evidence of 12 hours of continuing education credits* in marriage and family therapy continuing education obtained subsequent to the prior license renewal. Evidence of completion shall consist of a certificate of attendance and completion signed by the responsible officer of a continuing education provider."

The renewing licensee should review the description of any course they wish to take through our website, and decide about relevance to MFT. All of our courses are approved for MFTs by NBCC, and the State Boards of California and Texas.

South Carolina Dept. of Labor Licensing Regulations - Div Professional & Occupational Licensing is an affiliate of NBCC and accepts all courses of NBCC Providers (we are NBCC CE Provider #6338), so long as the licensee considers the course relevant to his or her license.

Some important notes from the Licensing Board's Continuing Education document:

1. "A maximum of fifteen (15) hours during each two-year licensure period may be obtained through informal continuing education . . . .[whiich includes] individual self-study to include use of on-line courses."

2. " . . . the benefit of selecting a sponsor who has already been reviewed and approved by this licensing Board or NBCC or AAMFT is automatic acceptance for continuing education hours, as long as it is relevant to your area of practice and offers professional development in your profession."

• Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners accepts our Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners CE Provider #4670
• Alaska Board of Professional Counselors accepts our NBCC approval #6338
• The Board of Marital and Family Therapy accepts our NBCC approval #6338

Our information indicates that the State of Hawaii does not currently require continuing education for licensed mental health professionals.

The District of Columbia Board of Social Work accepts our Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners CE Provider Certification #4670, for all Social Work licensure designations. Response to our email to the District of Columbia Department of Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration, D.C. Board of Social Work provided this information:

"Social Work: If the course is approved by NASW, ASWB or any other state Social Work Board it is approved for District Social Workers.  Again, if NASW, ASWB or any other state Social Work Board has approved your course no additional approval is need for DC."
